The ySTART Program helps kids practice refusing cigarettes before tobacco robs their power to resist.
The ySTART Program offers a kinesthetic approach to learning with an exemplary curriculum containing hands-on lessons, worksheets and a groundbreaking design. The program then takes things an important step further with a take-home smoking refusal simulation using an interactive electronic device.
The dynamic ySTART curriculum consists of six lessons in living a tobacco-free life that can be easily customized. It includes activities to help participants engage in the material and personalize their reasons for not smoking. Meaningful lesson plans, build-your-own teaching aids and a quick start curriculum map help you implement the program right out of the box.
This outstanding curriculum is integrated with a simulation that immerses young people in a tobacco addiction and smoking refusal experience. The PreventPak electronic simulator is a handheld device using voice recognition technology. Participants carry the PreventPak with them throughout the two-day, take-home simulation. According to the schedule selected by the instructor and downloaded to the device, voices of an addicted friend and their peers speak from the PreventPak, pressuring them to try a cigarette.
