Control Center Software FAQs

Can I send data from my control unit into the Control Center software?
Not yet. That is a possible future product enhancement.

What is the communication range between the Babies and the Control Center?
Up to 50 feet.

Can I program the Babies in one step?
Not really.  You still need to set up the simulation for each Baby at a time.  However, you can transfer the data to all the Babies at once.

What is the “No Class” folder?
The “No Class” folder is the default folder for all simulation data.  Create new folders for simulation data to fall into for easier data tracking.

How many Report Folders can I create?
There is room for 5 additional folders in the Control Center.  Select the Report Folder when programming the Baby; the data will automatically transmit to that folder when the simulation is completed.

What is the Performance Overview %?
The Performance Overview % is the total score of all care events, missed care events, and mishandle events.

Can I edit the Performance Overview Rubric?
Yes, click on “Edit Rubric” and you can increase or decrease the points removed for each mishandle event.  You can also select “Edit Other” to add or remove additional points.

What is the “Edit Other” in the Performance Overview Rubric?
The “Edit Other” allows you to increase or decrease points in the Performance Overview.

Example: Take off points for losing a bottle.  Add points for extra credit.

I installed the Control Center Software to my computer, how do I add the Babies to the Control Center?
Click “Add” and follow the instructions on the bottom of the screen.

How many Babies can I add at one time to the Control Center?
The Control Center will have about a 30-second delay per Baby. The more Babies that you are adding at one time will slow the process down.  We recommend adding no more than five Babies at a time to the Control Center.

What do All, Available, Active and Report Due represent?
Blue Baby “All”
Every Baby recognized by the Control Center

Orange Baby “Available”
Number of Babies not programmed with a simulation

Green Baby “Active”
Number of Babies running a simulation

Red Baby “Report Due”
Number of completed simulations, data is being retrieved

Can I get updated revisions of the Control Center software?
Yes, updates are FREE. On Control Center, click on “Help” and select “Check for Updates” to download the most recent revision of Control Center. Do this every few months to make sure your software has the current revisions.

Can I program Baby when it is not in range of the Control Center?
No, Baby must be in range of the Control Center.

Can I e-mail reports?
When viewing a report, click onto “File” and select “Export – Copy to Clipboard.” Open an e-mail and paste the report to the e-mail.

If your current version of Control Center does not have this feature, click on “Help” and select “Check for Updates” to download the most recent revision of Control Center.

Can I delete simulations from the folders?
Yes. The deleted simulations will go into the “Trash” folder and will remain there until the “Trash” folder is emptied.

Can I delete report folders?
Yes, except for the “No Class” folder.

When do I need to use the “Pod Tool” on my Control Center?
Do not use the Pod Tool unless you are instructed to do so when talking with a Product Support representative.

Since I am using the Control Center, are there times when I may need the handheld Control Unit?
Use the control unit to verify the actual voltage of Baby’s battery module. Control Center indicates battery charge level with a visual readout, and the control unit gives an actual number. It’s also a good backup if you can’t get to your computer or need to program Baby or download simulation information without it. When calling Product Support for help with infant simulators, be sure to have your hand-held control unit nearby.

I have installed the Control Center and added my Babies.  However, all Babies and data are missing whenever I restart my computer.
Check with your Network Administrator to verify if your computers are using a program called “Deep Freeze.” Your Network Administrator will need to install the Control Center into a protected location, or have your Network Administrator contact Product Support.

I went to print the simulation data and only a summary was printed.
When printing reports, be sure to select the “Print” icon above the selected reports.  A full report will print.  Ignore the “Print Summary” at the bottom right corner of the Control Center. The “Print Summary” just prints a summary.

Do I have to click “Stop” in order to retrieve the simulation data?
Only if Baby is still running a simulation. If the Baby turns off at its scheduled time, have the Control Center software running, and Baby will automatically transmit the data into the Control Center.

Can I view the simulation data while the simulation is in progress?
The “Get Data” on the Control Center downloads the current simulation data without interrupting the simulation.

If your current version of Control Center does not have this feature, click on “Help” and select “Check for Updates” to download the most recent revision of Control Center.

What are the highest event numbers and crying minutes?
The largest number for numerical displays such as missed care or mishandling is 254.

The largest number possible for crying time is 999 minutes. Crying time includes all crying for rough handling, wrong position and neglect, as well as scheduled crying for care.

There are a higher number of recorded IDs than there are care events.
RealCare® Baby II will accept the ID during ANY crying event, that includes all care events, mishandle events, and fussy events.  Count the number of care events and the number of mishandle events.  If the parent ID is still more, then the remainder is for fussy events.

Can I program RealCare® Baby II-plus with the
RealCare® II control unit?

Yes. The RealCare® II-plus programs exactly the same as the RealCare® II Baby.

When should I contact Product Support?
Please contact Product Support when any of the following situations occur:

  • Battery level on the control unit reads 0.0 volts
  • Red and green lights on Baby constantly flash, but go out when the charger is unplugged
  • LEDs on Baby’s back never light up
  • Baby has been plugged in for over 6 hours and shows only a couple of colored dots on the Control Center software.

What accessories should I have when I contact Product Support?
Please be sitting at your computer and have Baby, the battery charger, the Control Unit, bottle, diapers, ID, instructor key, paperclip, and a Phillips screwdriver when you call.
